FAQ

Can I bake in my Polish Pottery?

Absolutely! The pottery can be used in both the microwave and in the oven. It cannot be used on the stovetop or under the broiler. Some microwaves can generate hot-spots, often because the microwave doesn't have a rotating turntable or is a much older model, and in that case it is recommended to keep your pottery in the microwave for 10 minutes or less.

Oven cooking in your Polish Pottery is a neat experience. The crusts on my breads are much nicer, pies and cakes bake up so lovely. Sometimes I forget to oil my bread baker, and still the loaf comes out in one piece.

Can the Polish Pottery go in the dishwasher?

Definitely! Polish Pottery loves the dishwasher. I use Electrosol tabs, and my Polish Pottery just sparkles and shines when I take it out. I have two spoon rests that have gone in the dishwasher every single week for the last 15 years, and there has been no etching or dulling of the finish whatsoever.

Can I put my Polish Pottery in the microwave?

Yes, you can. The general recommendation is to keep the pottery in the microwave for 10 minutes or less, because some microwaves can generate hot-spots, often because the microwave doesn't have a rotating turntable or is a much older model.

How do I get baked-on food off my Polish Pottery?

Baked-on cheese from casseroles happens at my house a lot. Once the dish is completely cool, add just a bit of dishwashing liquid and fill it with water to soak. After a short while, everything will come off quite easily. We've found that the hardened glaze of the Polish Pottery makes for much easier cleaning than other traditional cookware.

What are Signature Pieces or Unikat?

Unikat and Signature Pieces are actually the same thing. They are unique (unikat) since each Unikat design can be painted by only one artist. The Unikat patterns are usually much more detailed and quite time-consuming to complete. They became known as Signature Pieces here in the US because the artist also signs the bottom of each Unikat piece when they are finished.
